The Process Of The Tree Book!

Hello, the past two months I have been working on a Tree Book. This has been a big projects with lots of work.

This is what part of my book looks like. We did screen printing for the branches. Like you see the tall trees. These just used to be plain but we screen printed over it with the poems that we made. After that we made the shape of our books. You see the blue background. That just used to be just a piece of blue water colored paper. After we did the paper folding, we did akua inking. You’re probably not familiar with that type of inking.  You have special paint with a jelly pad and any type of paper. Here is one of the papers I made.

After akua, we did some collaging. This is where we collaged our akua inks onto our books. That was really fun. Collaging was one big step we spent a while with this step.

After all this we put pockets in our books. We put the akua we had done on the book to make them decorative. It was really fun because we added our Life List and My Roots including a photo of us to remember what it was like this year with the pandemic.  You can see the blue and green paper. Those are the papers with my Life List and My Roots.

What is a Life List you may ask? Well a life list is a list you create and you put down what you would do if there was no one saying no and no money limits. So you have all the money in the world and have no parents to say no what would you do ? Well put what you would do down on a paper and make it a list.

What is a salute to my root well that is where you choose three people who are family or really close to family and you write how the impacted yourself. So you could write about a parent,a sibling, Grand parents, aunts uncles, and close family friends.

Thanks for reading now you can run this out for yourself.
